3 Things to Think About Before Starting Your Road Trip to Wyoming

How Long Is the Drive?

Getting to Jackson Hole from Idaho Falls is quick and easy. The drive is about two hours without traffic but can take longer depending on which way you go and how many stops you make. There are two main routes to choose from: one follows the Snake River and the other climbs over Teton Pass. Read on to discover the benefits of each of them.

Note: We highly suggest making your road trip one big loop! Take one route on your way into Jackson Hole and the other on the way out.

What Stops Can You Make Along the Way?

No matter which of these routes you choose, there are a number of places to stop and explore on your way to Wyoming!

Snake River Route

The Snake River drive is the longest of the two at approximately 120 miles. This route takes you through Palisade Dam and follows the river, which originates in Yellowstone National Park. The Snake River route is dotted with quirky, artistic towns, exquisite restaurants, and unique boutiques. This is a great choice if you want to take it easy and enjoy life’s simple pleasures.

Teton Pass Route

The Teton Pass route is about 100 miles long and takes you through Swan Valley, Pine Creek, Victor, and, of course, the scenic Teton Pass. We highly recommend stopping at the top of the pass to soak in the view. You’ll even be able to spot the south end of Jackson Hole!
