What to Do on the Fourth of July in Jackson Hole
In the Morning
Start your Independence Day off right with fresh coffee, seasonal fruits, homemade bread, and, of course, a warm breakfast. When you stay at Bentwood Inn, that’s a guarantee every morning!
You’ll want to have breakfast wrapped up in time to see the Jackson Hole Fourth of July Patriotic Parade step off at 10:30 a.m. MT. It starts at the Teton County Fairgrounds, travels down Snow King Avenue, turns onto Broadway, and ends on Willow Street. You can expect the works with horses, music, clowns, classic cars, and more.
If the parade isn’t your thing, head outside for a morning hike. The Cache Creek and Hagen’s Trail Loop is an easy two-mile hike right outside of Jackson. It offers walks through meadows and views of mountain peaks in the distance. Biking and horseback riding are also allowed on the trail.
In the Afternoon
The Bird in Jackson is the perfect place for a Fourth of July lunch. The menu has more than 20 burgers to choose from plus fall-off-the-bone chicken wings. The Bird is known for its fun atmosphere and outdoor seating, so you don’t have to compromise on that cook-out feeling.
Spend the rest of the afternoon enjoying a classic summer activity: floating down the creek. Grab your bathing suit and inner tube for a mostly calm float through downtown Jackson on Flat Creek. We recommend putting in right behind Dairy Queen and wearing water shoes. If catching the fish that swim in the water is more your thing, there are lots of great places to fish along the Snake River.
In the Evening
There are a couple of July 4th festivals in Jackson Hole that you won’t want to miss. The Grand Teton Music Festival starts just in time to celebrate the holiday! Capathia Jenkins will sing patriotic favorites as Sir Donald Runnicles conducts the orchestra. Music starts at 6:00 p.m. MT.
Ending the night with fireworks is a must! You can catch a spectacular fireworks display at either Teton Village or at the base of Snow King Mountain in downtown Jackson. Both start at 10:00 p.m. MT. Teton Village’s celebration gets started the day before with Concerts on the Commons. Music starts at 7:00 p.m. MT on July 3 and 4:00 p.m. MT on July 4.
