Enjoy the Most Entertaining Meal at Dornan’s Chuckwagon

Family eating at a picnic table at Dornan's ChuckwagonLocals and experienced travelers to Wyoming all agree – Dornan’s at sunset is where you want to be! Located within Grand Teton National Park in Moose, WY, the view here is absolutely spectacular, with the cathedral peaks of the three highest Tetons beckoning. Dornan’s is a fifth-generation family-owned resort that features a grocery store and deli, wine shop, sports equipment rentals, and two fantastic restaurants – Dornan’s Pizza and Pasta and Dornan’s Chuckwagon. Just 40 miles south of Yellowstone and 25 minutes from the Bentwood Inn, visiting this landmark is a must when you’re in the Wild West! Here are some of our favorite ways to enjoy a trip to Dornan’s.

Indulge at Dornan’s Chuckwagon

Opened in 1948, the historic Chuckwagon can host up to 300 guests during the summer months and is known for its delicious cowboy fare. Their popular breakfast options include all-you-can-eat sourdough pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and french toast, and the lunch menu features a variety of hearty soups and sandwiches. The all-you-can-eat Western-style dinner is served over an open fire in cast iron Dutch ovens and features chicken, salmon, and steak from Dornan’s own butcher shop. Guests can enjoy their meal with a glass of beer or wine from the bar while seated at picnic tables overlooking the Snake River and Grand Teton National Park. Be sure to stop by on Monday night for Dornan’s Hootenanny, a live acoustic event that’s free to the public!

Check Out Dornan’s Pizza and Pasta

Dornan’s Pizza & Pasta Restaurant is located inside the resort’s Spur Bar and is open year round. In the winter, guests can enjoy a cozy and intimate dining experience next to a large stone fireplace, or outdoors on a deck with views of the Teton Mountain Range in the summertime. The menu at this restaurant features an eclectic mix of comfort food classics, including quesadillas, wings, pizzas, salads, calzones, and more. After a delicious meal, head over to the Dornan’s Moose Trading Post & Deli where you can purchase gourmet groceries, camping equipment, and local delicacies like cheese and huckleberry jams.

Explore Grand Teton National Park

While you’re in the area, feel free to bike or skate into the park using Dornan’s pathway trail, which opened in the summer of 2009. The paved trail parallels the Teton Park Road from Dornan’s to South Jenny Lake, where guests can spend the day hiking, fishing, boating, or mountain biking. There is also another path that leads from Dornan’s to the town of Jackson, offering 20 miles of trails that are just waiting to be explored.

Stop by Bar J Chuckwagon!

Open Memorial Day through September, Bar J Chuckwagon is another great place to enjoy a classic cowboy supper. This Chuckwagon captures the true spirit of the old west with a relaxing atmosphere, hearty meals, and authentic cowboy entertainment like songs, stories, comedy, fiddling and more. Reservations are strongly recommended, so be sure to call ahead!
